Literature

Dr. Jackson is Assistant Professor of English at Hillsdale College where he teaches survey courses in the Great Books, Old and Middle English Literature, seminars in the Pearl-Poet, Chaucer, Medieval Biblical Literature, The Bible as Literature, Mimetic Theory and Literary Study, and the Ethics of Emmanuel Levinas.  His research interests include medieval biblical narrative, the Pearl-Poet, and the medieval mystics, especially the anonymous author of The Cloud of Unknowing.  He has published in various fields: medieval literature, a seminal article on online pedagogy, Renaissance drama, and, most recently, the Book of Revelation.  You can now order Levinas and Medieval Literature: The “Difficult Reading” of English and Rabbinic Texts, edited by Ann W. Astell and J. A. Jackson (Duquesne UP, 2009).
