Welcome to Hillsdale College's collection of primary sources for military history. This collection is currently focused primarily on European military history before the twentieth century, although we intend to incorporate the American and non-Western military heritages, as well as contemporary warfare. We now have 405 documents, 2 maps, and 1 secondary source available on-line.

We are slowly converting all our documents to PDF format. This makes the documents a bit slower to load, but much faster to produce; we hope the increased number of documents available will offset the annoyance of slightly longer load times. If you have suggestions or requests, please let me know. If you have public domain texts you would like to see included on this site, please drop me a note. We can get texts typed, but if you have electronic copies, we can have your documents up in less than an hour. Further, if you would like to receive a plain text or Word-formatted copy of anything on this site, please contact me.
