Fit Tip of the Week

Hula Hoop

At Christmas, Alvin and the Chimpmunks knew what to ask for: a hula hoop. This week we are focusing on the old American past time. Though you may be a hooping amateur, here are a few tips to get you swinging in no time.

1. The hula hoop is a great way to work your abs without ever having to do a crunch. Why? The constant swinging motion around your middle force you to engage your abs and obliques.

2. Challenge yourself to hooping with your neck, arms, or ankles. For the professional hula hooper, attempt lying on your back and swinging it with your legs.

3. Be creative and invent a new way to hula hoop, then challenge your friends in the quad for a hula hoop tournament.

So take an end of the semester break, enjoy the weather and hula hoop.
