Fit Tip of the Week

Stephanie Riebe/Collegian

Mock demonstrates two fit tip moves for finals week, the roundhouse kick and the back roll. Please note that snow boots are not required when practicing these fit tips.

The Roundhouse Kick

1. Stand with feet hip-width apart, arms bent and hands in fists.

2. Lift right knee parallel to the floor and extend leg.

3. Return to start.

Tips

*Tighten your abs and use your core muscles to really get the most out of this.

*Don’t just throw your leg out: Really focus on what you are doing. It should be a very controlled motion.

*Do as many reps as you feel are necessary to relieve the stress from that History or English final.

Back Roll

1. Sit on the floor, hugging knees to your chest with your back very rounded.

2. Slowly rock back and forth, keeping your back rounded.

Tips

*This should feel good. If it doesn’t, stop.

*Remember to keep your back rounded the entire time.

*This should be done slowly and carefully.

Other Fit Tip Ideas to Help You Through Finals

1.After studying 2-3 hours, take a quick 10 minute walk or jog outside. The fresh air will help you stay awake to study.

2. Don’t overdue the amount of caffeine you consume. Drinking icewater is sometimes the best beverage option for studying.

3. Avoid studying all night. Sleep is often the best study aid for finals preparation. A good night’s sleep will give you focus and clarity on your final exams.
