If you are determined to get the most out of your weekend, keep a few basic tips in mind as you navigate the party scene.
Arrive with your posse:
Always come, party, and leave with at least one or two good friends.
Don’t get stuck scanning the crowd for vaguely familiar faces. Arriving at a party should never remind you of trying to find a table in Saga.
Getting from here to there:
Know where you’re going and how to get there. If you’ve never been to a certain party spot before, take someone who has.
Play it up:
Themed parties are hot, so go ahead and get in character. Make plans with friends to raid closets and throw together some party “bling.”
Getting your groove on:
Remember, the strobe light will mess with your mind. Take a break for fresh air if you feel disoriented.
Be realistic:
Dress to impress, but also dress comfortably. Avoid clothes that are uncomfortable or impractical.
Check the forecast beforehand and bring a jacket just in case.
Look fresh:
Don’t let the tell-tale signs of a stressful week show. Come prepared with eye drops for red and itchy eyes.
Remember personal hygiene before you come. No one likes to be around the sweaty, smelly kid!
Keeping up appearances:
Girls, DO NOT get stuck in high-maintenance clothing.
If you opt for the mini skirt, make sure you can get in and out of the car.
Stilettos make walking and dancing nearly impossible, so try a pair of cute flats or sandals instead.
Wear your hair up if you’re going to be around tiki torches.
Remember you can wear darker, more dramatic make-up at night: Make your eyes pop with black eye-liner, accentuate your cheek bones with a deep bronzer, or make your skin glow with a glistening face powder.
21 and up:
If you plan on consuming alcohol, choose a designated driver and make sure he stays designated through the night.
No one knows your level of alcohol tolerance better than you, so mix your own drinks.
Never accept a drink if you are unsure what it is.
