Staff Report

After a two week Collegian poll, answered by more than 100 students, we found your choice of the hottest spots on campus. More than 20 locations were nominated, which tells us that there really is something to do in Hillsdale, if you’re looking for it.

If you’re name is on the list of best places to party, feel accomplished. If you didn’t make the cut, you’re just going to have to work a little harder to show us how cool you really are.

We’ve included party locations for every personality and definition of fun - so if you’re not impressed with fraternity drinking games, never fear, there is a party spot for you, too.

Oh, and one other thing, this list comes out in time for the weekend, so don’t just sit there and read about where the party is, go to one!

Lauren Grover, Audree Heath and Nicole Stanley contributed to this report.

First Place: Sigma Chi fraternity
172 Hillsdale St.
Who lives there: 17 men of the fraternity
What their parties are like: “A packed house, dancing, speaker
diving, a feeling of security, and the famous last three songs, typifies a party at one of the oldest houses in the county. Expect more extravagent themes, prizes, hilarious occurences and fantastic evenings.” -Joe Petrides, Sigma Chi president

Second Place: The Bench
85 Union St.
Who lives there: Jared Light, Tyler Blanski and Ivan Heitmann
What their parties are like: “Each party is different, it’s never about just one thing. Sometimes we have bonfires, sometimes it’s out in the yard, sometimes people dance - it all depends on the night.”-Jared Light

Third Place: The Box
25 E. Galloway St.
Who lives there: Caitlin Agoston, McKenzie Miller and Megan Milczarski
What the parties are like : “It is difficult to have crazy parties seeing that our house is owned by the college, and is directly across from the Dow Center. But we have a great yard and porch where we can keep everyone contained and under control. All we can say is that we’re seniors and we’re always looking for a good time.” -Megan Milczarski

Honorable mentions for best party location:

1. The Mansion
2771 Half Moon Lake Rd.
Who lives there: Tyler Horning, Ben Zielinski, Blain Adams, Joey Beall, Jeremy Seebohm, Sean Boyle, Tim Eagen
What their parties are like: “Over the line.” -Tyler Horning

2. The Beat
187 N. West St .
Who lives there: Jon Gibbons, Andrew Jones, Daniel Silliman, Ryan Leng, Dave Frank, Lee Nunn and August Stafford
What their parties are like: “Very chill, pants optional.” -Jon Gibbons

3. The Riff
134 Oak St . Also the home of the recent Arabic bash.
Who lives there: Blake Smith, Andrew Fink, Chris Merchich and Scott Keenan
What their parties are like: “Holding some of Hillsdale College’s finest musicians, this house is more music venue, than living quarters.” -Mike Ohly

4. The Baseball House
239 West St .
Who lives there: Brandon Hubbard, Matt Dillon, Andy Lovell, John Lawrence, Corey Krug, Jake McCloy
What their parties are like: “It’s the best party place because that’s where the Hoe-down is, and who else covers their entire house with hay and makes up a square dance for the school?” -Christina Chorkey
