Thank yous and farewells

As the school year comes to an end and students prepare to go off to their other lives, some never to return, we at the Collegian are reminded just how interesting and eventful the last two semesters have been. We cannot say it has been boring, nor can we say that it has been easy. It has, however, been worth it.

It has been worth the late nights and early mornings, the stress of deadlines and headlines, the tedium of deadends and endless meetings, the dirty looks from fellow students and, in the case of one editor, the adoring female fans always calling and following him around all the time.

We have had a great time running the Collegian this year. We have learned more and encountered more than we had anticipated. From the demise of one of Hillsdale's oldest fraternities in the fall, to faculty scandal and dismissals in the winter, to the growing security concerns and incidents this spring, we have not been bored; we hope we have not been boring.

Despite our occasional criticisms, this is a great school, an important school. Hillsdale has an amazingly talented, committed faculty, an intelligent, ambitious student body, and an administration that is willing to listen and work with arrogant, smart aleck student editors.

In fact, we would like to thank Arnn and his administration for allowing us to operate, for the most part, as an independent student newspaper, even though technically we are not. In past years the Collegian was a PR newsletter for the college; not anymore. This is because men like Dr. Arnn and Bob Blackstock understand the importance of training journalists at a place like Hillsdale. We thank them for their support.

We would also like to thank our faculty adviser, Joy Spencer, who has stood behind our work all year and gone above and beyond the call of duty on more than one occasion. Also many thanks to our heroic, Parnassus-scaling director, Tracy Simmons, who has managed to keep an eye on us while crisscrossing the globe on his fantastic adventures.

And lastly we thank our readers for their contributions and support. Good luck to all on finals, and have a great summer.
