Last day to elect king and queen

Today is the last chance to vote for this year's Homecoming king and queen. Voting is being held outside Saga during lunch and dinner.

Derby Days kicks off this Sunday

Sigma Chi's annual week-long fundraising event begins Sunday, Oct. 19, and ends on Oct. 25. Sorority and inependent women compete in various events to earn the most money and points by the end of the week. Campuswide events include a dunk tank on Monday, car bash on Wednesday and Mock Rock on Saturday night. The fraternity will be selling T-shirts all week for $10. The event is planned to raise money for the Childrens' Miracle Network. For more information, call Neal Buchanan at 437-1147.

Wheaton College professor speaks Sunday

Samuel Storms, professor of religion at Wheaton College, is visiting Hillsdale to present "Joy's Eternal Increase: Jonathan Edwards on the Beauty of Heaven," at the 14th annual Faith in Life lecture. He will speak in Phillips Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Sunday as a commemoration of Edwards' 300th birthday anniversary.

Roller rink Halloween party planned Oct. 25


Stadium Roller Rink is hosting a Halloween costume party from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. Admission is free for those wearing costumes, and skate rentals are from $2 to $3.50.

Haunted Barn seeks volunteers

Hillsdale Chamber of Commerce and Hillsdale College are seeking volunteers to help with make-up, sound, security, acting, concessions, construction and clean-up for the Hillsdale Haunted Barn project. Throw pies at professors Saturday

The International Justice Mission is selling $1 tickets for the opportunity to throw a pie at one of several Hillsdale professors-including Dr. Brad Birzer, Dr. Lee Baron, and Professor Joseph Garnjobst. Tickets are available outside Saga during lunch today and tomorrow. The event is taking place at 12:30 p.m. Saturday outside of Central Hall.


Scholarship opportunity

Scholarships are still available for this academic year. All juniors from Calif., Georgia, Ill., Mass., N.H., N.J., N.Y., Penn., Texas or Wis. with a GPA of 3.4 or higher, and who have an interest in business, are eligible to apply for a $5,000 scholarship from Liberty Mutual & the Foundation for Independent Higher Education. The deadline is Nov. 1. See the financial aid office for more information.

Orange Crush philanthropy today, tomorrow


The women of Pi Beta Phi are holding their annual Orange Crush today and tomorrow outside the Ethan Allen Room. Cans are $1 each, or 3 for $2, and proceeds go to Arrowmont: School of Arts and Crafts.

United Way 'Make a Difference Day' Oct. 25


Next Saturday is "Make a Difference Day," a day on which people nationwide give back to their local communities. To participate in service activities for Hillsdale, meet at Central Hall at 9:45 a.m. Projects include working with the Humane Society, collecting food and clothing for the local food bank and cleaning up Lewis Emory Park.
