'Most popular fair on Earth' brings Lonestar to Hillsdale

Lonestar!

"The Most Popular Fair on Earth" is coming to town and Lonestar is hopping on the wagon.
The Hillsdale County Fair, open from Sept. 21-27, is adding several events to its annual tradition. Perhaps the most anticipated event is the appearance of Lonestar, a top country music band, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27.
Lonestar has achieved many accolades during their seven years together.      Among these are four awards from the Academy of Country Music, two Country Music Association awards, two Billboard Awards and five Grammy nominations.
If you haven't heard of Lonestar, you are sure to have heard their number one song, "Amazed," playing on the radio. This hit solidified them as an internationally recognized band and the group claims that it may have saved them from losing their record deal.
Now, you may be wondering how such an established band came to know about the Hillsdale fair.
Lonestar, distinguished by their willingness to play at local fairs and charity events, decided to make Hillsdale its next stop after being chosen by the committee and contacted by the fair's agent.
"I am super excited that such a big-time band is coming to Hillsdale," sophomore Leah Alphin said. "What better things are there to do on a Saturday night than see Lonestar live?"
Tickets for the show are $28.00 per adult and may be purchased at the Hillsdale County Fair Box Office or call at any Ticket Plus store at 1-800-585-3737.
Besides Lonestar's concert, many other additions have been made to the 153-year-old fair.
For the first time this year, an exotic animal display, sponsored by Fifth Third Bank, will be available with the general admission fee of the fair.
At this exhibit, people will be able to hold and bottle feed many exotic animals, including tiger cubs.
If you're looking for some new thrills in Hillsdale, the fair has added a ride, called "The Slingshot Drop Tower," a mix between a bungee jump and a traditional roller coaster.
The cost of this ride is in addition to the general admission fees.
In addition to the many rides at the fair, you will also find open class animal judging, tractor pulls, and of course, the demolition derby. The Hillsdale College Republicans will also be there helping the County Republicans run their booth.
