     Chris VanOrman, associate professor of chemistry, has been named Professor of the Year twice during his 12 years at Hillsdale. He was also recently appointed as the new dean of faculty.

     Last year students and faculty felt the repercussions of the declining economy through budget cuts in the athletic departments, as well as a freeze on all faculty salaries. This year college finances have improved.

Delta Tau Delta chapter closes after 136 years

    After months of deliberation, the Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity voted Sept. 8 to suspend the charter of Hillsdale College's Delta Tau Delta fraternity, thus closing the 136-year-old chapter.

Calvert takes over

A two-year national search officially ended last Wendesday when the provost's office announced that Kenneth Calvert, tenured associate professor of history, had been appointed permanent headmaster of Hillsdale Academy.
