Women's Track Senior Tauna Blacquiere Earns All-America Honors at 2004 NCAA Outdoor Track Championships in California

Pomona, Calif. Hillsdale College women’s track senior Tauna Blacquiere (Byron Center, Mich.) earned All-America honors at the 2004 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at Cal Poly Pomona on May 27-29. Blacquiere earned All-America honors after placing sixth overall in the heptathlon with 4,716 points (top eight earn All-America honors). After placing 13th on day one, Blacquiere vaulted into sixth place on day two after earning personal best times in the 200m and 800m (she won the 800m event).

Blacquiere is the third Hillsdale women’s track athlete to earn All-America honors this year (Stephanie Carroll, DiOnna Williams at the NCAA Indoor Championships).

In addition, junior Candice Mulder (Kentwood, Mich.) and sophomore DiOnna Williams (Ft. Riley, Kansas) also competed at the championships. Mulder finished with a time of 57.22 in the 400m, while Williams broke the Hillsdale school record in the 200m with a time of 24.54. Both did not advance to the finals.
