Hillsdale Women's Track Performs Well at Gina Relays

The Lady Chargers put on quite a show at the 38th Annual Gina Relays. With close to 3,000 athletes in the meet, the women's team competed well with 2 School Records, 15 Personal Bests, 7 Season Bests and 2 more women qualified provisionally for Nationals.

The 4x100 Relay, with veterans DiOnna Williams and Candice Mulder and Freshman Ashley DeJonge and Katie Spice set a new school record with a time of 48 seconds flat.

Tauna Blacquiere bettered her point total in the Heptathlon by almost 300 points to set the school record (old total was 4664 by Jessica Hawkins in 1997) and moved up in the national rankings.

National Qualifiers:
Heidi Johnson, injured during cross-country and the indoor season, had a personal best and achieved the national qualifying time in the 5000 meter, finishing in 17:40.82.
Stephanie Carroll, already a qualifier in the 800 meter, ran a personal best time of 4:34.19 to achieve the standard in the 1500m as well.
DiOnna Williams sprinted to a time of 24.84 in the 200m to qualify for the trip to California in late May.

Personal Bests (PR's):
- Candice Mulder 400m in 57.0 and an incredibly fast leg on the 4x400 relay.

Katie Smith (2:17.47) and Carrie Douglas (2:18.85) rand PR's in the 800m.
- Robin Joecken PR shot put 38'2"
- Callie Adamson PR Steeplechase 11:46
- Sarah Etchey PR discus 118'3" (and a seasonal best in the shot put at 38'; a seasonal best in the hammer at 137'6")
- Alissa Hall PR in the 3000m at 10:30.
The 4x400 relay ran a time of 3:52, which is just off the school record time.
- Kate Simmons had outdoor bests of 5'2-1/4" in the high jump and 17'1" in the long jump. Her hurdle time was an outdoor best at 15.67.
Allison Schweda tied her personal best in the pole vault at 10'6".
