Hillsdale Women's Track Finishes Third at GLIAC Indoor Championships Hosted by Findlay

Findlay, Ohio — The Hillsdale women's track team finished third among eight teams at the 2004 GLIAC Indoor Track Championships, hosted by Findlay on Feb. 27-28. Grand Valley State claimed first place, which was followed by Ashland in second. Hillsdale fought for third place and in doing so set 17 personal bests and four school records.

Sophomore DiOnna Williams tied the school record in the 55m with a time of 7.21 in the prelims. In the finals she set the record outright (7.13) and won the first place title by beating an Ashland sprinter who was picked to win. Williams also set the school mark in the 200m with a time of 25.34 (2nd).

Sophomore Lindsey Stevens set the school record in the pole vault (11-6 1/2"), while the 4X800 relay team of Stephanie Carroll, Alissa Hall, Katie Smith and Carrie Douglas set the school mark with a time of 9:12.66 (1st).

Other Meet Highlights

800m - Stephanie Carroll earned 2nd place in a blazing 2:14.78 while Katie Smith ran for 7th (2:19.83).

Mile - Stephanie Carroll ran an impressive 4:55.87 for second place while Alissa Hall added a 7th place time of 5:15.24. Joanna Grille set a season best.

High Jump - Katie Simmons jumped 5'3-1/4" and finished 2nd. Kate was tied for 1st and after a jump-off that lasted over an hour, she was bumped to 2nd but what an awesome performance as she was not ranked that high entering the day.

Pole Vault - Allison Schweda had a PR at 10'-3/4".

Shot Put - Sara Monteleone 2nd place, Sarah Etchey 5th place, Emily Sharp 6th place, Robin Joecken PR 8th place.

Weight Throw - Emily Sharp 5th (45'11-3/4") and Sara Montelelone 6th (44'7")

3000m - Freshman Alissa Hall finished 6th 10:31.25

5000m - Callie Adamson finished 8th with a PR at 18:31.65 and Kristen Hoffman set a PR 18:52.45.

55m Hurdles - Katie Simmons finished 5th with a PR 8.75 Prelims and 8.67 in the Finals.

Long Jump - Tauna Blacquiere PR 17'9" and 4th place.

Triple Jump - Lindsey Stevens PR 34'9-1/2" and 4th place. Lindsay Lowry had a PR at 31'9".

4x400 Relay - 4th place (Candice, Carrie Douglas, Stephanie Carroll, Tauna Blacquiere) 3:57.91
