Hillsdale Invite & Pentathlon

The Lady Chargers had the luxury of getting to perform at home this weekend.They competed in the Hillsdale Invitational in Jesse Philips Arena on February 11 and had a great day.In the field, freshman Stephanie Algera set a personal best in the 20-pound weight toss (28'4 3/4'') and took 5th.She also took 3rd in the Shot Put with a throw of 37'11 3/4''.Jessica Warner placed 5th in the Long Jump at 14'11 1/2''.Maryea Pike ran a season best 7.64 in the 55 meter dash (7.4 in the prelims) and took 1st place, while Alicia Britton set a lifetime best at 8.39 (8.2 in the prelims) and took 5th. Maryea Pike continued her great day by winning both the 200 meters (26.75) and 400 meters (58.50).She was followed up by Jenna Soccorsi (27.03/2nd in the 200, 1:01.70/3rd in the 400) and Nancy Shipley (27.56/3rd in the 200, 1:01.20/2nd in the 400).Not only did Hillsdale place great in the sprints, they also dominated the distance events.In the 800 meters, sophomore Kelly McNeilance took 1st in 2:20.23, good for a lifetime best.Anna Webster (2:27.39), Jenny Belsley (2:32.71), and Amy Soper (2:34.46) all cracked the top 10, with Anna and Jenny setting seasonal bests.Tara Shamey (5:14.80) led the way for a pack of Chargers in the 1600 meter run by taking 2nd and setting a seasonal best.Jenny Belsley (5:20.20) set a lifetime best and grabbed 5th place.Anna Webster (5:24), Emily Phillips (5:29.90), Katy Gnaedinger (5:31.80), and Tanya Eaton-Fraser (5:34.40) all placed in the top 11.Emily Phillips set a lifetime best in the 3000 meter run in 11:09.10, good for 5th place.Christine Freeman (11:19.30) followed closely in 6th place.Allie Burum tore up the 5000 meter run in 18:02.30, which was good for an NCAA Division II National Provisional time.Trudy Chase (19:08) and Kristin Warner (19:36.20) took 3rd and 4th, respectively.Hillsdale performed great in the relays as well.In the mile relay, Hillsdale took 1st (4:06) and 3rd (4:22.50).The Lady Chargers took 1st (9:40.90) and 2nd (10:04) in the 3200-meter relay.
