Hillsdale’s Women’s Track and Field team entered the Eastern Michigan University Open with plenty of confidence after having run well at both Findlay and Saginaw Valley State.The Lady Chargers pushed hard once again and came away with another successful meet.Senior Maryea Pike led the way for her teammates.She placed 3^rd in the 400-meter dash (58.24), barely missing the national provisional time.She also grabbed 9^th in the 200 meter dash (26.26).Hillsdale had four other women run well in the 400 meters: Jenna Soccorsi (1:02.54), Nancy Shipley (1:03.21), Emily Phillips (1:05.30), and Amy Soper (1:06.16).Three of those four also sprinted well in the 200-meter dash behind Pike: Nancy Shipley (28.25), Amy Soper (29.58), and Jenna Soccorsi (29.72).Kelly McNeilance and Tara Shamey led the way for Hillsdale in the 800-meter run and the 1-mile run.McNeilance took 4^th (2:20.86) and 5^th (5:18.70), respectively, while Shamey followed in the 800 in 6^th place (2:22.25) and led in the 1 mile taking 3^rd (5:14.00).Katy Gnaedinger (2:31.06) and Andi Pietraszak (2:47.44) both ran well in the 800 meters.Anna Webster (5:28.35) and Gnaedinger (5:38.00) also finished in the top 13 in the 1-mile run.Allie Burum ran a 10:27.55 3000-meter run to take 6^th place.In the 55-meter sprint, Alicia Britton made it into the top ten with a time of 7.70.On the field, Jessica Warner nabbed 9^th place in the long jump with a leap of 13’10.50 and Stephanie Algera took 8^th place in the shot put with a toss of 12.02 meters (39’05.25).The team 4x400 relay looked great with a 2^nd and 5^th place finish.The 2^nd place finishers crossed the line in 4:06.87 and were followed closely by the 5^th place finishers (4:14.35).Both of the teams posted super times.
