Women's Track Opens Outdoor Season at BGSU

Saturday April 1, 2000 was the opening of the Hillsdale College Women's Track and Field team's outdoor season at Bowling Green State University. Approximately 15 teams competed at the Northwest Ohio Track Classic, including Division I schools such as Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan. The first Charger to compete was Kristin Warner who ran the 10,000 meter run in 42:28, placing 7th overall. The 3200 meter relay team of Kelly McNeilance, Tanya Eaton-Fraser, Amy Sayers, and Tara Shamey placed 3rd with a time of 9:32.76. McNeilance ran an excellent split of 2:18 and the team overall ran well for it being so early in the season. Jenna Soccorsi competed in the 400 meter hurdles and ran a personal best of 1:06.45 good for 6th place. Nancy Shipley had lifetime PR in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.4. Maryea Pike placed 4th in the 400 meter dash at 58.9. Stephanie Algera opened the season with a throw of 96'8" in the discus. The meet provided a great start for the Women's Track and Field outdoor season.
