Women's Swimming Defeats Ashland 114-65; Chargers
Finish Regular Season With 8-2 Record
The
Hillsdale women's swimming team had first-place
finishers in all but two events against Ashland
on Saturday, Feb. 5, defeating the Eagles 114-65
at the Jack McAvoy Natatorium.
Hillsdale
finishes the 2004-05 regular season with an 8-2
record in dual/tri-meets, which is a five win
improvement from last year's 3-4 mark. Hillsdale
will travel to Wayne State on Feb. 16-19 for the
GLIAC Championships.
Junior
Cylie Hoopingarner won the 200 butterfly with
a time of 2:09.47, which qualified as an NCAA
"B" time standard. It is fourth event
this year in which she has made a "B"
cut. She also won the 200 yard backstroke and
was part of the 400 medley relay, which took a
first place.
Sophomore
Amanda Smith won the 50 and 100 yard freestyle
events. Freshman Tyler Patterson won the 400 IM
and took second in the 200 fly. Freshman Mara
Gushrowski won the 200 freestyle and took second
in the 200 backstroke. All three of these women
were also part of the winning 400 medley relay.
