17 Women's Cross Country Finishes Fourth at GLIAC Championships

Rapids, Mich. — The No. 17 Hillsdale women’s cross
country team finished fourth among 13 teams at the 2003
GLIAC Championships on Saturday in Big Rapids. The Chargers
tallied 112 points, which trailed third-place Wayne
State (99) by 13 points. Grand Valley won the conference
title with 27 points, while Northern Michigan placed
second (96).
Junior
Stephanie Carroll (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) was Hillsdale’s
top finisher, placing 15th overall with a time of 22:41.1.
Sophomore Shannon Stanglewicz (St. Louis, Mich.) finished
right behind Carroll in 16th place with a time of 22:42.3.
Sophomore Heidi Johnson (Ludington, Mich.) placed 25th
(22:57.9), freshman Beth Ann Lannen (Jackson, Mich.)
placed 27th (22:58.8) and freshman Alissa Hall (Monroe,
Mich.) placed 29th (22:59.8) to round out the top five.
With
freshman Katie Smith’s (Flint, Mich.) 30th place showing
(23:00.9), the Chargers had three first-year runners
finish three, four and five among all freshman that
ran in the race.
Hillsdale
tied for fourth place in the 2002 GLIAC Championships.
