13 Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at Great American
Festival in North Carolina

Hillsdale,
Mich. — The No. 13 ranked Hillsdale men's cross
country team ran a strong race at the Great American
Festival on Sept. 26 in North Carolina. Hillsdale finished
second overall (out of 21 teams) in the University division
race, tallying 91 points, which trailed UMass-Lowell,
who won with 55 points.
The
Chargers were led by Gordon Fisher (sixth place) and
Kyle Fujimoto (11th). David Sayers ran a solid race
with a 19th place finish overall. Rounding out the top
five for the Chargers were two freshmen, Matt Wish and
Lewis Butler, finishing 27th and 28th, respectively.
GLIAC
rival Grand Valley State finished third and another
region foe, Southern Indiana, finished fourth. The meet
site will also be hosting the NCAA Division II Nationals
later this season on November 22.
Hillsdale
(11th in the Nation in 2002) is looking forward to returning,
but will have to qualify on November 8 at the Great
Lakes Regional.
The
Chargers compete in South Bend this Friday at the Notre
Dame Invitational. Hillsdale won the Gold Division last
year at ND and will move up this year into the stronger
University "Blue" division.
